2019 ASIA PACIFIC SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
A strong contingent of six golfers will next week compete in the annual Asia Pacific Seniors Championship in Malaysia. The team is:
 
John Batley (Titirangi)
Peter Brinsdon (Pegasus)
Tony Chettleburgh (Feilding)
Stuart Duff (Hastings)
Craig Newman (Nelson)
Brent Paterson (Royal Auckland Grange)
 
The championship is being played at the Singai Long Golf & Country Club, Selangor  from 20-22 November. 
 
Paterson is the two time defending champion, having won at Royal Adelaide in 2017 and then at the Tom Watson Golf Club last year. He will again start as one of the favourites.
 
Chettleburgh and Newman make their debut at this level having turned 55 during the year and make this one of the strongest teams selected. There is a teams component to the championship which is played over 54 holes, with the best four of six rounds counting each day. New Zealand last won the title in 2016, finishing runner up the last two years, only one stroke behind the Australians in Adelaide and only two behind Japan last year. 
 
Both Paterson and Chettleburgh have warned up for the event with impressive performances at the recent Freyberg Masters. Paterson returned six wins from eight at number one for Auckland and Chettleburgh was unbeaten at number two for Manawatu Wanganui. 
 
 
 
2017 SANCTUARY COVE TROPHY
Congratulations to Australia who ended a five year domination by the New Zealand team, when they won a very close contest for the Sanctuary Cove Trophy. The final result was 12 1/2 - 11 1/2.
 
 
2017 NEW ZEALAND SENIORS CHAMPIONSHIP
Congratulations to Brent Paterson who was impressive in winning the national title at Ohope International Golf Club. His scores of 72, 67, 67 completed a six stroke victory over Andries Cloete.

2016 ASIA PACIFIC SENIORS CHAMPIONSHIP
Play has started in the 2016 Asia Pacific Seniors Championship. The venue is Alabang Golf and Country Club in The Philippines.
 
 
TEAM ANNOUNCED
The 2016 Asia Pacific Senior Amateur Championship will this year be played in The Philippines, at the Alabang Country Club near Muntinlupa City, from 16-18 November.
 
The six players selected will have the opportunity to match the achievement of Rodney Barltrop and Murray Martin as the only New Zealanders to have lifted this prestigious title. 
 
A teams event is played in conjunction with the individual and New Zealand has a proud record in this competition.
 
The six players selected to compete in 2016 are:

2016 SANCTUARY COVE TROPHY
 
NEW ZEALAND TEAM TRIUMPHANT AGAIN
New Zealand's domination of the Sanctuary Cove Trophy continued today when the 12 strong team defeated Australia in a close fought match 13-11.
 
The kiwis had an 8-4 lead overnight however the Aussies won matches early and closed the gap quickly. However a strong middle order performance with wins to John Sanders, Michael Barltrop and Martin Webber stalled the come back. Frank Borren secured another point at number 3 and in the match of the number one's Brent Paterson managed a half and the win for New Zealand.
 
Royal Wellington Golf Club proved to be a great venue for this annual challenge. 
 
 
NEW ZEALAND TEAM NAMED 
Congratulations to the following players who have been selected to play Australia and defend the Sanctuary Cove Trophy at Royal Wellington Golf Club, 16-17 February, 2016.
 
Michael Barltrop, Rodney Barltrop, John Batley, Frank Borren, Reg Fleet, Murray Martin, Andrew McKechnie, Arthur Parkin, Brent Paterson, John Sanders, Tony Treen and Martin Webber.
 
Paterson having recently turned 55 makes his debut and Webber has been reinstated as an amateur after a brief professional career.  
 
 
2016 NEW ZEALAND SENIORS CHAMPIONSHIP
Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club
11-13 February
 
This very popular event attracts a large field and record entries are expected next year. Paraparaumu Beach is one of our greatest courses and we will have a large international interest in playing this championship. That may place us in a difficult position of entries exceeding the field capacity so at this stage we would like to advise that we will give priority to international visitors and those that have supported the event in recent years. 
 
Entries will open here at www.golf.co.nz later this year. 
 
 
 
2015 ASIA PACIFIC SENIORS CHAMPIONSHIP
Congratulations again to our very impressive New Zealand Senior representatives. Playing in the Asia Pacific Seniors Championship in Qingdao, China, the strong team of six won the teams trophy, heading off Japan by 7 shots and Australia by 12.

2015 SANCTUARY COVE TROPHY

The very talented New Zealand Senior team has once again defeated the Australian Senior team in the Sanctuary Cove Trophy played on The Pines course at Sanctuary Cove Golf Club.

The Kiwis have now won six of the nine annual contests.
