HSBC 9 HOLE CHALLENGE FINAL ON TODAY

9/12/2011

Seventy golfers from districts around the country have qualified through to the New Zealand Final of the HSBC 9 Hole challenge.

The winners of the gross, nett and non-affiliated divisions progress to the National Finals to find the country’s best 9 Hole golfers after their District Qualifier at 14 clubs across New Zealand.

It’s the third annual HSBC 9 Hole challenge with the National Final to be held today (December 9) at the North Shore Golf Club with the chance to win some remarkable prizes.

The HSBC 9 Hole challenge was launched as a fully nationwide event last year and has been expanded this year to incorporate over 75 clubs throughout the country.

“The feedback we have had is that the concept is growing,” said the Golf Operations manager at New Zealand Golf Phil Aickin.

“We have had over 3000 people involved in the HSBC 9 Hole Challenge at that is up by more than a 1000 on the numbers from last year.

“Now that it has been around for three years the golfers are more aware of the club and district events and the HSBC 9 Hole challenge has been well supported.”

Aickin said all players who qualified for the National Final are in for something special.

“It’s a great venue and it will be in top condition. For amateurs around the country it is a unique experience. They get on the plane, into a shuttle and then out to the course and it’s like playing as a pro with the pressure of a big tournament.”

It is part of New Zealand Golf’s initiative to provide an exciting way to attract new people to golf and prove a catalyst for those with busy lives to play more.

The HSBC 9 Hole challenge has been run nationally encompassing Club and District qualifying events.

The HSBC 9 Hole challenge includes options for all golfers, members and casual players. The competition includes male and female gross and nett for affiliated and non-affiliated players as well as a non-affiliated category.

Everyone who enters goes into the draw for a superb all inclusive family holiday for two people at Club Med Bali, while all those who qualify for the National Final to go into a draw for a trip for two to the 2011 HSBC Women’s Champions in Singapore complete with business class flights for two, five nights luxury accommodation and corporate hospitality at the event.
