LYDIA LEADS AHEAD OF MARATHON LPGA CLASSIC FINAL ROUND

9/08/2020

Lydia Ko holds a four-shot lead going into the final round of the Marathon LPGA Classic as she looks to win her first title in over two years on the LPGA Tour.

Ko has amassed an impressive three round total of 16-under par following rounds of 64, 65, and 68 at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio.

She’ll be paired with her good friend and last week’s winner Danielle Kang for the final round as she sits in second place at 12-under par.

Beginning the day one in front, Ko managed to extend her lead after a stellar third round where she made four birdies and just the lone bogey.

Kang got to within two of her lead on the back nine, but Ko pulled away with critical birdies on the 16th and 17th holes.

Ko’s last victory was at the LPGA Mediheal Championship back in April 2018, 44 tournaments ago, and would be a special feeling for the former world number one after a long break in between trophies.

She tees off tomorrow at 6am.
