KO HONOURED WITH QUEEN'S MEDAL

16/05/2019

Lydia Ko has added another special item to her trophy cabinet at Government House in Auckland on Wednesday where she received her MNZM for services to golf.

She joined fellow sport stars, rugby player Dan Carter (ONZM), Team New Zealand's Glenn Ashby (MNZM) and boardsailor Barbara Kendall (CNZM) who also received Queen’s Honour.

“Obviously it’s a huge honour and I keep telling myself ‘I don’t know if I deserve to be here,’” smiled Ko.

“It’s something you don’t even dream of, so you can’t say it’s a dream come true, it’s just an unbelievable thing for me not only as an athlete but as a person and I’m definitely very proud to be standing here alongside these amazing New Zealanders.”

Ko who came home to receive the medal will now set her focus to the US Open which start May 30.
