NORTH ISLAND STROKE PLAY: KEH DEFENDS HER AMATEUR TITLE

20/04/2014

Another amateur title and Munchin Keh is the last woman standing at the end of the week again.

The 21-year-old from the Titirangi Golf Club was disappointed to lose the Charles Tour title to Caroline Bon but was pleased to defend her North Island Stroke Play title in style.

The New Zealand rep held onto the silverware pretty comfortably when she won by six shots from fellow Auckland rep Celyn Khoo (71).

“It is a little bit disappointing because I wanted to win the overall title,” said Keh. “But to defend my title is great and I need to take the positives from that.”

Keh said the key to her win was sticking to her processes and not thinking about the result. She rued making a double bogey on the par 5 12th and bogeys on 13 and 16 which ended her Charles Tour title hopes.

“I played well throughout there was just a couple of holes where I lost the momentum and I couldn’t get close to Caroline.”

Keh is looking forward to taking this form to the Nelson Golf Club for the NZ Amateur this week

“I have won it before and it is a title that I would definitely love to win again, I am looking forward to Nelson.”

“My game is showing some progress and I feel like I am getting better as a player. It is cool traveling around the country to play in different events and be tested by different conditions.”
