NZ STROKE PLAY: GUO CLIMBS INTO A SHARE OF THE LEAD

22/03/2013

North Harbour golfer Lita Guo underlined why she was selected to represent New Zealand in the Queen Sirikit Cup in round two of the New Zealand Stroke Play.

The 17-year-old from the North Shore Golf Club, who will make her senior debut in Taiwan at the Asia Pacific Women’s Championship from April 17 – 19, carded a two under 72 at Paraparaumu Beach to share the lead with former NZ rep Chantelle Cassidy.

Guo, who won in only her second event on the Charles Tour at the LawnMaster Classic, carded five birdies and three bogeys to back up her even par start to be two under for the event.

Meanwhile Cassidy, who finished third in the event in 2012, added another one under par 73 to also be two under par and in contention for her first national win.

Fellow Waikato golfer Fai Thongdesthri had a one under par 73 to climb seven places into a share of third place at the halfway stage with Wellington's Te Rongopai Clay.

There was no cut for the women’s field.
