National Education Framework

The golf industry is large and multifaceted. As such, there are many rewarding careers to be found in golf.

Supporting the learning and development of the industry is the National Education Framework. This framework outlines how people can take their interest and skills and apply them to an education pathway.

 
 

  1. COACHING

    Love Golf Futures Coaches

    Mum’s, Dad’s, Grandparents, older siblings and willing club volunteers who play such an important and influential part of a young person’s first steps into golf. Love Golf Futures coaches are here to enrich the lives of young people by helping them grow a love for golf.

    PGA Coaching Pathway

    The PGA of New Zealand remain integral to the success of both volunteer and community coach development, with their role being to maintain a network of trained coach developers that can be called on to deliver Futures Coach training.

     

    Online and practical support to volunteer coaches as well as ongoing mentoring and resources.

  2. PGA PROFESSIONAL APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME

    The PGA Academy exists to provide a pathway for individuals that wish to become a fully qualified PGA Professional.

     

    The PGA Trainee Programme is ideal for golfers who have a passion for a career in golf. PGA Trainees work alongside fully qualified PGA members and receive practical work experience and on-the-job training at approved golf facilities around the country. In addition to developing real skills for the workplace, PGA Trainees also receive nationally accredited qualifications in a variety of vocational disciplines.

  3. CLUB ADMINISTRATION

    Golf Club Managers Association of New Zealand Certified Club Manager

     

    The CMAA BMI Course is delivered by the Golf Managers Association of New Zealand and supported by New Zealand Golf. The programme consists of 10 different courses. Each course is held over the period of a week with an examination at the end. Those who complete the course and pass the examination become Certified Club Managers, an internationally recognised qualification.

  4. CADDY ACADEMY

    Short Course Programme

    These courses are designed to train caddies in the basic requirements for the opportunities to caddy part time on the local NZ market. These are presented as 3-day block courses at various golf courses and regions.

     

    Course venues and times will be advised once we have processed your application. The Short Course A.C.T. Certification enables the caddy to offer their services for a range of events available including National Opens, Interprovincial/Local events, growing Tourism market, Corporate and Private events. Each Caddy's profile is promoted through the caddy team page to a wide range of potential clients and events.

     

    Elite Programme

    This programme is designed to provide trainees the skills and pathways to gain full caddy accreditation.

  5. AGRONOMY

    If turf and the turf industry is of interest to you, there is a clear pathway through to being recognised as a turf specialist, greens keeper or superintendent. Alternately there are courses to support the growth in your understanding or fill knowledge gaps.

     

    Primary ITO

    Primary ITO provide superb courses for those starting out, those with 1-2 years experience and those who are in positions of management regarding sports turf. Please click here for more information.

    Otago Polytech provide an 18 month full time course to develop sports turf professionals.

  6. RULES OFFICIAL PATHWAY

    New Zealand Golf have created a pathway for the development of Rules Officials. If you are interested in this pathway it provide the opportunity to continually upskill allowing the development of club, regional and national level officials.

  7. COURSE RATING

    Course rating is an important and integral part of the handicapping system. New Zealand operates under the USGA Course Rating System, a system proven to be the most sophisticated and accurate way to provide ratings for the worlds 34,000 golf courses.
