New Zealand Golf - Aspiring Director

New Zealand Golf is offering an Aspiring Director position for a term through until 31 December 2021.

The Aspiring Director is not a formal member of the Board but is expected to fully participate in Board meetings, processes and discussions. The position is voluntary, but expenses will be reimbursed.

About New Zealand Golf
New Zealand Golf is a not-for profit charitable trust established in 1910 as the governing body for golf in New Zealand responsible for leading, growing and supporting the game. Golf is the most played sport in New Zealand with over half a million kiwis playing each year at one of the 390 clubs throughout the country.

As a sector, golf employs over 2,000 people and contributes more than a billion dollars to the national economy each year. As a sport, golf makes a significant contribution to the health and wellbeing of its participants, increases the social connectivity of communities and improves provides important education and life values outcomes for young people.

New Zealand Golf is focused on inspiring increased participation in golf through a range of initiatives and programmes. The organisation also provides a wide range of services for the game including an extensive club support programme, overseeing the rules of the game, running the national handicapping system, managing the New Zealand Golf representative team programme (including the Olympic programme) and the management of over 20 elite golf tournaments.

Golf Operations Manager in Tauranga

We are seeking a passionate, hands-on and organised golfer with exceptional customer service and people skills to join the Tauranga Golf Club and The Clubroom team as Golf Operations Manager.

The Clubroom

Be a part of Tauranga’s home of golfing excellence at The Clubroom, the custom pro shop providing a premium range of golf equipment and expert advice to golfers at any level at the Tauranga Golf Club.

The Role: Reporting directly to The Clubroom Manager, the Golf Operations manager will be responsible for ensuring the successful day-to-day running of golf operations through exceptional customer service, player coordination and pro shop operations. Join our team to drive pro shop sales and provide world-class customer service.

This key role is employed under The Clubroom Tauranga and is based at the Racecourse Reserve, Gate Pa, Tauranga Golf Club.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

· Plan and coordinate the day-to-day golf operations in liaison with the Tauranga Golf Club committee and regional and/or national golfing bodies

· Collect and control green fees, scramble fees, tournament entries and administer electric golf carts

· Coordinate all pennant and other club event activity

· Manage the production of advance tee booking templates, the loading of club competitions and the production of the annual fixture book

· Coordinate and manage corporate day events by taking bookings and liaising with the event organiser to ensure setup is completed and end results are managed

· Assist in social media posts in various channels, including Facebook and Instagram

· Take membership enquiries and payments when the General Manager is away

Skills & Experience:

The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of golf with a passion for the game. You will have previous experience managing people and consider yourself highly organised and efficient with excellent people skills, communication and customer service skills. Previous experience in event coordination liaising with multiple stakeholders is advantageous.

You will enjoy hands-on work, be an administration superstar and work well under pressure.

The company is a multi-faceted business with several key income streams – owner of leased hotel complex, memberships, green fees, food and beverage, retail, landscaping and a lawn nursery. This role reports directly to the Board and is responsible for the overall performance and operations of the organisation.
The successful candidate will have proven business experience managing and growing an organisation, experience reporting to a Board is a mandatory pre-requisite for the role.
