New Zealand Golf - Board Director Positions 

Golf is the most played sport in New Zealand with almost half a million kiwis playing golf each year at one of the 390 clubs throughout the country. As a sector, golf employs over 2,000 people and contributes more than a billion dollars to the national economy each year. 

As a sport, golf makes a significant contribution to the health and well-being of its participants, increases the social connectivity of communities and improves provides important education and life values outcomes for young people.

New Zealand Golf is a non-for-profit charitable trust established in 1910 as the governing body for golf in New Zealand responsible for leading, growing and supporting the game. The organisation is governed by a dedicated group of volunteer Directors, the majority of whom are elected by the 15 District Association members. New Zealand Golf’s office is in Auckland and is co-located with the PGA of New Zealand.

The organisation is at a very exciting stage with the implementation of several new initiatives to engage young New Zealanders plus grow the number of members and casual players. New Zealand Golf owns a leading club management software technology company and technology underpins all initiatives.

As set out in the New Zealand Golf constitution, New Zealand Golf Board Directors must stand down at the conclusion of their term. These Directors may put themselves forward for re-election for further terms up to a maximum of three, three year terms.

There will be (1) elected Director position and one (1) appointed Director position available on the New Zealand Golf Board commencing 1 January 2020. The term for each of these positions is three years through until 31 December 2022. (Note: the Board comprises three appointed and five elected members).

We are looking for directors who want to join a professional, experienced and competent Board and to assist New Zealand Golf continue to be a leading NZ sports organisation.

The voluntary position is for a term of three years. The expected time commitment is about ten to twelve days per year.

Waiheke Island Golf Club - Greens-keeper Required

Waiheke Island Golf Club has a position available for a full time or part time Greens-keeper for its 9-hole golf course. The position is available to be filled immediately and the salary will be subject to negotiation, based on both experience and qualifications.

The candidate will need to have experience in machine maintenance and adjustment, as well as be familiar with irrigation systems (preferably Rainbird system). Experience with drainage installation will also be an advantage. The successful applicant would also need to manage a team of enthusiastic volunteers that assist with day to day mowing, coring and various planned improvements on the course.

The Role: Reporting directly to The Clubroom Manager, the Golf Operations manager will be responsible for ensuring the successful day-to-day running of golf operations through exceptional customer service, player coordination and pro shop operations. This key role is employed under The Clubroom Tauranga and is based at the Racecourse Reserve, Gate Pa, Tauranga Golf Club.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

· Plan and coordinate the day-to-day golf operations in liaison with the Tauranga Golf Club committee and regional and/or national golfing bodies

· Collect and control green fees, scramble fees, tournament entries and administer electric golf carts

· Coordinate all pennant and other club event activity

· Manage the production of advance tee booking templates, the loading of club competitions and the production of the annual fixture book

· Coordinate and manage corporate day events by taking bookings and liaising with the event organiser to ensure setup is completed and end results are managed

· Assist in social media posts in various channels, including Facebook and Instagram

· Take membership enquiries and payments when the General Manager is away

Skills & Experience:

The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of golf with a passion for the game. You will have previous experience managing people and consider yourself highly organised and efficient with excellent people skills, communication and customer service skills. Previous experience in event coordination liaising with multiple stakeholders is advantageous.

You will enjoy hands-on work, be an administration superstar and work well under pressure.

General Manager - Ngaruawahia Golf Club

For the first time in 14 years the opportunity to be involved in further developing one of Waikato’s top golf clubs is available. Ngaruawahia Golf Club is 10 minutes’ drive north of the Hamilton CBD and just over 1-hour drive from Auckland Central.
