Travelling New Zealand – Playing the Best:
At the top of the North Island, golfers will find Carrington Resort and Kauri Cliffs, superb coastal courses. Historic Waitangi in the Bay of Islands is worth a visit alongside the Waitangi Golf Course.
Gulf Harbour and the only Alistair McKenzie course in the country, Titirangi, are the golfing highlights in the country’s largest city, Auckland. The central North Island offers travellers a huge variety of scenery on both sides of the coast and the chance to play The Lakes Pauanui, Wairakei International. A ‘must play’ is Cape Kidnappers in the Hawkes Bay before travelling down to Wellington, the country’s capital and seat of government. Make sure you play on our more well-known links course, Paraparaumu Beach Links, host to the 2002 New Zealand Open when Tiger Woods played.
Along the way check out our unique thermal activity in Rotorua, the Art Deco city of Napier, the picturesque Coromandel Peninsula and the three mountains, Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngauruhoe in the central Plateau. All of these views can be seen from fairways of friendly and local associated golf clubs – The Rotorua Golf Club, Napier Golf Club, Tirau Golf Club and Taupo Golf Clubs, to name just a few.
The South Island has a combination of landscapes that are often referred to ‘as the best of Europe in one country’. Starting with its northern beaches in the Tasman Bay, there is much to enthral travellers of all ages and interests. Standouts are the vineyards of Marlborough regions, whale watching in Kaikoura, the magnificent Aoraki and Mount Cook National Parks and the southern lakes, fiords, glaciers and mountains in the Otago and West Coast.
Clearwater, Terrace Downs and Pegasus Town offer resort golf in the Canterbury area, with Millbrook and Jacks Point in Queenstown (New Zealand’s tourist and adventure ‘Mecca’) natural finale’s to your New Zealand golf holiday. The private and exclusive ‘Hills” course set in the glorious region of Arrowtown is a new and sparkling jewel in the Central Otago region’s crown.
New Zealand Golf Escapes are available from two nights plus, including green fees, selection of quality hotels, motels and lodges, meals and transport.
