New Zealand were victorious in the annual challenge against Australia.

Omaha Beach Golf Club

13 - 15 February, 2014

Good afternoon
This content is to provide early information for the 2014 NZ Seniors Championship which is scheduled to be played in the popular holiday destination of Omaha Beach. Omaha is 95km from Auckland airport a journey of approximately one hour and thirty minutes.

Considered by a growing number of serious golfers as a hidden treasure in New Zealand, the 18 hole, par 71 Omaha Beach Golf Club will provide a fantastic venue for this championship.  The layout of the course is unique and similar to the Scottish style with 9 holes going out and 9 back, which provides a logistical challenge, therefore as with The Open Championship we will have a one tee rolling start each day.
Registrations for this event will open on our website in mid-December but at this stage we would like to advise that we will be limiting the field to 144 players.   In 2011 and 2012 that was the size of the field but at Taupo earlier this year we had 195 registrations and eventually a starting field of 173.  The central location may have contributed to the increased entires but at this stage we wanted you to be aware that we will be following a set criteria to determine our starting field if we have that kind of interest again.  Priority will be given to those that have supported the event previously and international visitors.
The organising committee recommends you look to arrange your accommodation as early as possible.  Options include renting a beach home in Omaha or there are some hotels available in the surrounding area.
See accommodation information HERE
Omaha will be excellent hosts and intend adding some extra touches to the event to enhance your experience.  This will include food and drinks on course and an additional evening to interact with the members and Omaha locals.

This is one of our most popular annual events and we look forward to another week of camaraderie and competition.

From the “The OBGC Organising Committee”

The first ever New Zealand Seniors Championship was held at the Taupo Golf Club where the legendary golfer and New Zealand Golf Hall of Fame Inductee Stuart Jones won.
In 2013 Brent Paterson ran away with the title and he will face strong competition from not only the best in the over 50's age bracket in New Zealand but also the best from Australia. Following the event a NZ senior team will play Australia at Muriwai.
Entries will open here at later this year but at this stage players may like to pencil this popular event in their diaries.
