The Gateway Programme is open to everyone!
Regardless of whether you’re a parent, grandparent, caregiver, school teacher, club volunteer assisting with beginner junior programmes or an existing coach, the Gateway Programme is for you.
Once recognised a "Gateway Trainee Coach" can deliver, or assist with, the coaching sessions within the Junior Plus Programme (or similar junior club programme) at golf clubs throughout New Zealand. The Junior Plus Programme is designed to encourage and develop players during the Explorer and Learner phase of the player pathway. New Zealand Golf and The PGA of New Zealand recognise that the development of quality coaches across New Zealand goes hand in hand with the development of quality players across the country. So with that in mind it is of great importance that coaches start off on the right path. This section of the website has been created for new coaches to ensure exactly that.
Below you will find two ‘introduction to coaching’ modules to help you begin your coaching journey.

The "Coaching Starter Pack" is step one of a three step introduction to coaching for new golf coaches. This development programme is available for new coaches to foster an interest in coaching and help gain an understanding of the role of the "Gateway Coach".
How do I start?
The two online coach development modules above are to be completed by you in your own time.
The most important step to becoming a coach is to register for the third step of the ‘Gateway Coach’ programme; which starts with a golf specific one day practical workshop.
To begin Step Three and attend a "Gateway Coach" workshop (and begin coaching) register your details here and a Regional Golf Development Manager will contact you with dates and times for the next one day ‘Gateway Coach’ workshop in your area or contact the Junior Golf Co-ordinator at
nzgolf@nzgolf.org.nz for a national list of Gateway Workshop dates.

After you have completed the "Safety Net" module you will be asked to print off your coach’s starter pack voucher; which will entitle you to receive your complementary ‘Coaches Starter Pack’ on the day of your Gateway Coach workshop.
