High Performance
NZ Golf High Performance Programme
The objective of the revised plan is to broaden the base of the development programme and to become progressively more specific towards high performance development at the upper tier. It is vital that talented juniors have a clear step-wise path to the upper tier that is challenging but yet attainable given the correct levels of development is achieved.
Support structures within each tier are primarily aimed at providing opportunities for golf development rather than non-descript funding of players.
Within the proposed plan a greater number of players are contesting for junior and open selection with the competition for places in the development squads greatly intensified. Creation of Academy programmes in each region will provide structured support for players not yet at national programme standard but surpassing district support structures.
Transparent selection policies for each level of support will provide all athletes and coaches with clear guidelines of what they must achieve to be considered for New Zealand Golf support.
Integration of the player development pathway with the coach development pathway will see support and personal development initiatives available to coaches at all levels which will produce a larger pool of coaches equipped with the tools to work with elite players throughout the country. |
