CASSIDY CLIMBS INTO PROFESSIONAL RANKS

24/01/2018

Leading New Zealand and Waikato amateur, Chantelle Cassidy has announced her step into the professional golf ranks today after a spectacular amateur career.

Cassidy has been one of the country’s most consistent amateurs over the past decade and has achieved more than most at this level which will give her confidence as she starts a new chapter in her career.

Over this time span Cassidy has engraved her name on the New Zealand Amateur title in 2014 and the New Zealand Stroke Play title in 2013 and 2016. With this, she has a handful of Jennian Homes Charles Tour titles including a Muriwai Open, Lawnmaster Classic, Carrus Open and three Harewood Open’s.

At the age of 25 this leap to the next level has been coming for some time and she is, much like the whole golfing community, excited to see where her career can go.

“It’s been an awesome journey so far, but I think I am ready to turn professional and see how I go,” said Cassidy.

After getting agonisingly close to earning her Ladies European Tour Card where she just missed the final qualifying cut, she has accepted status on the LET Access Series, which acts as a pathway to the Ladies European Tour. In the meantime, she will take the opportunity to compete in Australia over the summer months playing the ALPG series of events.

“I’m really excited and can’t wait to play on the ALPG soon and I must thank everyone who has been involved in my career as an amateur.”

Cassidy has left the World Amateur Golf Rankings as the top Kiwi women ranked 66th. We wish her all the best in this new chapter of her golfing journey as she strives to be one of the top ranked professionals.
