LEE ON FEDEX CUP BUBBLE

8/08/2019

Danny Lee is looking to make his playoff season last as long as possible starting this week at the first FedEx Cup playoff event, The Northern Trust Open.

Lee is sitting in 66th position in the FedEx Cup standings with the top 70 players making through to the following week, The BMW Championship.

The FedEx Cup playoffs has had a shake-up this year. The previous four playoff events have been reduced to three, with more emphasis put on a player’s ranking going into the Tour Championship.

With Lee sitting on the bubble, he will need a good tournament to ensure he’s safe going into next week. He tees off at 4.11am on Friday with Sergio Garcia and Abraham Ancer.

The playoff series also heats up on the Korn Ferry Tour with The 25 to be decided after this weeks event, the WinCo Foods Portland Open presented by KraftHeinz.

Tim Wilkinson is also on the bubble sitting in 21st in The 25 and has a prime opportunity to solidify his PGA Tour card for next year.

He’ll also have another chance in the Korn Ferry Finals series should he fall outside The 25 and miss out on a PGA Tour card this week.

Wilkinson tees off at 3.13 early Friday morning.

Also looking to gain a PGA Tour card for next season is Steve Alker. He sits in 48th spot in The 25 and will be looking to leap up the standings with a good finish. He pegs it up at 8.12am on Friday.

Nick Voke is the third Kiwi playing in this event. He tees off at 3.34 Friday morning, and is sitting 165th in The 25.

Over in Europe, Josh Geary is playing in the Made in Denmark Challenge on the European Challenge Tour.

Geary is also looking to make his way up the Order of Merit rankings with the top 15 at the seasons end all earning European Tour status for next year.

He currently sits in 32nd place with the top 45 retaining their cards for next year.

However, Geary will be looking to make the leap to Europe’s main tour with a strong finish to this year and jump inside the top 15 on the European Tour Challenge Tour rankings.

He tees off at 7pm tonight.
