HILLIER, MOUNTCASTLE & BROWN PLAY THE PRO'S AT ASIA-PACIFIC DIAMOND CUP

18/09/2018

Daniel Hillier, Kerry Mountcastle and Luke Brown have arrived in Japan to play against the professionals at the Asia-Pacific Diamond Cup this week.

Hosted by the Musashi Country Club Sasai Course from September 20-23, these three players will be aiming to fend off a field of an experienced field of 144 players, which includes Mike Hendry, in hope of more international success.

Although they are only amateurs, a prize purse of US $1,355,000 certainly shows what level they are playing at and will be the perfect platform to see where they sit against some of the best in the world.

Both Hillier and Mountcastle return to competitive golf for the first time since their recent success at the Eisenhower Trophy in Ireland where the New Zealand team ended a great week in fourth place. Leading entering the final round, they sadly couldn’t keep pace with eventual winners, Denmark who won for the first time.

Joining them will be Luke Brown who wears the fern for the first time since his North Hemisphere adventure to play at the 123rd Amateur Championship in Scotland and the European Amateur in the Netherlands.

It’s been a challenging season with injuries, but Northland’s number one amateur will be fighting fit this week and he looks to give his fellow Kiwis a run for their money.
