HENDRY FALLS SHORT IN SUCCESSFUL MATCH PLAY CAMPAIGN

11/09/2017

On the Japan Tour this weekend, Michael Hendry was knocked out of the quarterfinals after a massive struggle against Tadahiro Takayama at the ISPS Handa Match Play Championship.

Birdies and eagles were freely traded throughout the epic battle before Takayama’s birdie on 16 gave him the upper hand. Hendry then birdied 18, but that was matched by the Japanese player for a 1up victory.

Hendry finished 6th overall, pocketing a cheque for 7.0 million Yen, which comes to nearly $90,000 NZD. He now moves up one spot to 16th on the Japan Tour Order Of Merit standings, with earnings approaching $400,000 for the season so far.
