Lydia Ko has fallen short on the LPGA Tour this morning as she looked to claim her first title of the year at the Indy Women in Tech Championship.

Tied for the lead with eventual winner Lexi Thompson heading into the final round, Ko couldn’t fire finishing second with an even-par round of 72.

Thompson, who now has nine LPGA Tour wins to her name, had an exciting final round that included six birdies and two bogeys to stretch her lead.

This is Ko’s best finish since finishing in a share of second in the Lotte Championship in April and she records her eighth top-10 finish this year.

The 20-year-old never found the rhythm which saw her fire seven and eight under-par rounds to start the tournament, and an ugly double-bogey on the par-four 11th on Sunday gave Thompson all the breathing space she needed.

The Indy Women in Tech Championship would have caught many off guard this morning with it just being a three-round event, which will now disappoint many New Zealand golf fans.

Ko’s timing couldn’t be better with next week’s Evian Championship in France, the fifth and final major of the year, and three weeks out from the New Zealand Open, Ko will take plenty of confidence from her performance this week.
