Manawatu amateur Joshua Munn has carded a five under par 65 n round one of the Bay of Plenty Golf Open at the Whakatane Golf Club to lead by two shots.
The 21-year-old Munn, who won the ask>metro Muriwai Open on the Charles Tour in 2011, is two ahead of Auckland amateur Wesley Jeon (Whitford Park), David Feeney (Tauranga) and Jeremy Hall (Greenacres) who opened with rounds of three under par 67.
Munn is playing in his first event after recording a top 10 finish in the Mexican Amateur.
Another New Zealand rep Sam An opened with a two under par 68 to be in a share of fifth place three shots back from his Srixon Academy team-mate.
Auckland rep Brittney Dryland has shot a two over par 74 to lead the women’s field by two shots from three players.
The Titirangi golfer is two ahead of Joanna Kim (Manukau), Hanna Seifert (Lochiel) and Grace Senior (Tauranga).
Bay of Plenty local Warren Steward (Mount Maunganui) shot a two over par 72 to lead the Masters field by one shot by Justin Rasmussen (Omanu), Roy Hollick (Pakuranga) and Blair Murdock (Tauranga).
