Former New Zealand rep Daniel Pearce has made the cut by one shot at the North and South Amateur at Pinehurst No.8 in North Carolina.
The Ashburton golfer, who earlier this year won the North Island Stroke Play at Lochiel Golf Club, fired rounds of 73 and 74 to finish on a five over par total and in a nine-way share of 60thplace.
He will begin round three nine shots back from the American leaders Peter Williamson and Thomas Bradshaw who are on a four under par total.
Pearce is looking to press his claims for the New Zealand team to contest the Eisenhower World Team’s Championship in Turkey which will be named by New Zealand Golf later this month.
