The Otaki Golf Club, one of the Wellington Region’s leading golf clubs is seeking to appoint a General Manager to administer its affairs and perform a key role in the Club’s future growth and development.

This is a highly challenging position with clear goals and objectives which is ideally suited to a self motivated person with a keen interest in golf and strong commitment to achievement.

General Manager – Waitemata Golf Club

Waitemata Golf Club is situated in Devonport on the North Shore of Auckland and requires a new General Manager. Our present General Manager is retiring. The position reports to the Chairman and Board of Management and oversees the daily running of the club.

Key Responsibilities:

  •       Implementation of strategic, business, marketing and financial plans.
  •       Budgeting, financial performance and legal compliance.
  •       Management of staff and contractors.
  •       Marketing of club and growth of membership.
  •       Sponsorship and grants funding.
  •       Maintaining and growing relationships within the community, council and sporting associations.
  •       Enhancing the golf experience for all members and visitors.


Key Attributes:

  •       Business operations background with strong financial and technology skills.
  •       A record of successful leadership and stakeholder focus.
  •       Excellent communication and relationship skills.
  •       Computer literacy and knowledge of social media.

  •       Membership retention and growth.

Waitemata Golf Club is over 110 years old with a strong membership of around 800. It presents as a flat, easy walking course with affordable fees. Many enhancements in recent years have made it attractive and playable 12 months a year.

We are seeking a leader who has proven skills to build on these many attributes. While a background in golf management is preferable we will consider anyone who has proven skills in a similar organisation.
