GENERAL MANAGER MOUNT MAUNGANUI GOLF CLUB
The Mount Maunganui Golf Club (MMGC) is seeking to recruit an experienced and highly self-motivated General Manager.
The course, set in peaceful tree-lined surroundings is minutes from the country's most popular surf beaches, and 5 minutes drive from Tauranga’s Central Business District.
The Club began in 1935 by a group of golfers who undertook the challenge of developing a golf links course among the sand dunes of Mount Maunganui.
The subsequent development of the course has seen it evolve into one of the prestige club courses with its utilisation among the highest in NZ.
A superbly designed Clubhouse was opened in 1998 and the club/course with an enviable reputation, regularly hosts regional and national amateur events including the prestigious Grant Clements Memorial Golf Tournament.
The successful applicant will lead a support team and work closely with the Board of Management, and with the various sub-committees, to ensure that the MMGC runs efficiently and effectively.
We require a person who thrives on the challenge of implementing change, possesses a strong analytical and financial skill set, and who can inspire confidence and trust.
To be able to successfully perform the role, the General Manager will:
ü Actively oversee and manage the day-to-day operations and services of the Club, including the bar, cafe, finance, golf operations, general administration functions and compliance,
ü Dynamically participate with the Board and members to create and implement change within the Club to ensure its future success.
ü Informatively and regularly report to the Board regarding the Club's performance in respect of agreed benchmarks, KPI's and strategies.
ü Prepare accurate and timely monthly and annual financial statements for the Board and the Club auditors.
ü Effectively liaise with the Golf Professional, Course Superintendent and Food & Beverage staff, to ensure optimal experiences for members, guests and visitors.
ü Effectively manage the Club's commercial activities, contracts and obligations.
ü Monitor and manage the Club's financial performance to maximise profitability.

e. Meet legal and community obligations (Health and Safety, Liquor Licensing, Resource Management, Employment Law and other statutes)
f. Compliance with the Board and Club the Club Constitution.
4. Financial Competency:
a. Budgeting alignment with strategic and operational objectives
b. Analyse, evaluate and recommend opportunities to maximize and enhance profitability
c. Communicate key information timely and effectively to the board
d. The clubs operational and development undertakings fit within the parameters of sound financial prudence
5. Marketing and Public Relations Champion:
a. Develop marketing and sponsorship programs with local business
b. Continually promote opportunities to profile the club to local media
c. Professional and regular communication with our golfing community including stakeholders, members, neighbours, corporate sponsors, associates, local business, local government and funding suppliers.
