The Tairua Golf & Country Club is an 18 hole golf course in the township of Tairua. Unfortunately our excellent club manager is moving on to a new opportunity and we are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic person for this role.

Key focus will be maximising revenue in the following areas:
Greens fees, Bar sales, Golf shop, Tournaments, Membership and Functions.

The ideal applicant/s will have:
-   Financial, budgeting and analytics skills
-   Bar management skills
-   Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
-   Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively with a Board of Management
-   Ability to promote the Club and its facilities in the local community and the broader market.

New Zealand Golf is a non-for profit charitable trust established in 1910 as the governing body for golf in New Zealand responsible for leading, growing and supporting the game. The organisation is governed by a dedicated group of volunteer Directors, the majority of whom are elected by the 15 District Association members. New Zealand Golf’s office is in Auckland and is co-located with the PGA of New Zealand.

Golf is the most played sport in New Zealand with almost half a million kiwis playing golf each year at one of the 390 clubs throughout the country. As a sector, golf employs over 2,000 people and contributes more than a billion dollars to the national economy each year. 

As a sport, golf makes a significant contribution to the health and well-being of its participants, increases the social connectivity of communities and improves provides important education and life values outcomes for young people.

The organisation is at a very exciting stage with the implementation of several new initiatives to engage young New Zealanders plus grow the number of members and casual players. New Zealand Golf owns a leading club management software technology company and technology underpins all initiatives.

Applications are now invited for an appointed Board director (the Board comprises two appointed and six elected members).

Ideal applicant Description
Following an internal review of the skills and expertise we require around the board table we are looking for people who can demonstrate leadership skills and experience in four main areas:

Corporate governance and networks;
2) Entrepreneurial,
3) Finance; and 
4) Risk.

We are looking for directors who want to join a professional, experienced and competent Board and to assist New Zealand Golf continue to be a leading NZ sports organisation.

Successful applicants will have the ability to provide strategic direction, skills and expertise in one of the skill areas we have mentioned and ideally have a demonstrable passion for the game and a wish to contribute to our success going forward.

The voluntary position is for a term of three years. The expected time commitment is about ten to twelve days per year.
