General Manager of the Russley Golf Club, Christchurch

Russley is a leading Canterbury golf club which is nearing completion of a major course reconstruction. It operates in a competitive world where members, potential members and customers have choices in the leisure market. The position requires multi management skills and experience to both consolidate the best of the past and reposition the club for the future.

This is a full time position which will oversee 3 key operational entities;

· The golf course operation and support facilities
· The Golf Learning Centre incorporating the Proshop
· The Russley Function Centre

Reporting to and solely accountable to the Chairman of the Board of Governance, this position will have 4 direct reports and approximately 18 staff

You will:

· Manage, monitor and control the expenditure, targets, business plans, safety, plant and assets within the 3 key business areas; the goal being to maximize revenue and minimise costs - at no loss of benefits or inconvenience to members.
· Oversee the people component including staff engagement and training.
· Implement effective communications across all areas of the business.
· Provide effective leadership.
· Drive KPI’s.

To be effective in this role you will need:

· Proven ability and experience with business financials, property and asset management.
· Strong knowledge of employment and other impinging legislation.
· Effective strategies for marketing, sales and business growth.
· Strong analytical skills
· Experience in operating within a changing environment and implementing change initiatives.
· Proven leadership.
· Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
· Experience in building strong working relationships and the ability to influence and interact with all stakeholders at various levels using a collaborative approach.
· Champion best practice methodologies

Riverside Golf Club Manager

Riverside is New Zealand’s newest golf club with two courses – Lochiel and Narrows - either side of the mighty Waikato River.

We’re on the look out now for an outstanding manager who can take the club forward.

Ideally you would be experienced in golf or sporting club management but we would also consider talking to someone who has business administration, hospitality or other service-oriented experience. You would also have:

• Knowledge of accounting and financial management principles including uniform system of accounts, financial analysis, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, remuneration administration, financing capital projects, audits, computers, business office organization and long-range financial planning.

• Sales and marketing knowledge.

• Human resource management skills in employee relations, management styles, time management, stress management, labour issues and leadership vs. management.

• Knowledge of building and facilities management in the areas of preventive maintenance, insurance and risk management, clubhouse/building renovations, contractors, energy and water resource management, housekeeping, security, etc.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Golf Course Superintendent

Remuera Golf Club (RGC) is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the position of Golf Course Superintendent.

RGC is an 18-hole private members’ golf club situated within the eastern suburbs of Auckland. The Club is home to 1500 members and the course attracts approximately 55,000 rounds per annum. RGC is midway through a course redevelopment plan which includes the reconstruction of new greens and tees to modern day standards and design; this is in conjunction with other Club improvements which are all focused on RGC becoming the ‘golf club destination of choice’

This is a unique opportunity to join the senior management team and be part of one the most progressive and exciting golf clubs in New Zealand.

The Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for all course maintenance, agronomic operations, budget control and personnel.

We are seeking applicants who are highly motivated with the following:

  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • In depth knowledge of all aspects of agronomy and hold recognised turf diploma/certificate
  • Ability and experience to prepare surfaces to tournament/international standards
  • Experience in construction and grow-in of new developments
  • Budgetary Management
  • Sound knowledge of health & safety, pesticide and hazardous substances legislation
  • Experience with managing a fleet of machinery and plant equipment
  • Experience with Site-Pro irrigation management system or similar
  • Experience with the management of warm season and cool season grasses. In particular, knowledge of managing creeping bent grass greens would be advantageous
